Solar Panels and Green Building
Homeowners Amy McQuillan and Pete Beauregard wanted Casa Aguila to be an example of next generation green building, as well as San Diego’s first Certified Passive House. Passive building comprises a set of design principles used to attain a rigorous level of energy efficiency within a specific comfort level.
Precis Solar recently completed its part of the project – the installation of dual axis solar trackers, the most productive solar panels per watt in California. These trackers contain Maximum Light Detection, a technology that automatically detects the point where the sun’s radiation is strongest, and directs the panels accordingly.
At Casa Aguila, our goal is to push the envelope of energy efficiency in residential design. Because there are not many residential microgrids to model after, we have gathered many talented engineers and energy experts to design a system to eventually take Casa Aguila off-grid.
